Zambezi Tales is a musical journey through Africa, featuring tales from the Shona and Tonga tribes, some funny, some scary and sinister – all with the special magic of African tribal legends. The audience songs include a chant in Bantu!
Meet a cunning hyena, an earth-shaking elephant, an envious warthog and many more characters of the African plains, as these stories come to life.
For the 2011 production, narrators Clive Rowe, Jacqui Dankworth and Annabelle Brown were joined by a great stage choir from Queensbridge Primary and drummers from St Judes.
Originating in West Africa, it seems apt that the 3-octave marimba take pride of place beside a full orchestra, harp and all, for this African-themed adventure.
